Game Drives
With its lush semi-arid and savanna vegetation that turns brown during the dry season, Kidepo Valley National Park offers perhaps the best game drive experience in Uganda owing to its wildlife diversity and spectacular landscape. Experienced tour guides sourced from Uganda Wildlife Authority will take you to the park’s wildlife hotspots where you come face-to-face with the fiercest mammals, cats and birds in their natural habitat. You encounter nature in its purest majesty, a scene so spectacular and reminiscent of unspoiled magnificence. What makes it even more unmatched? The uniqueness and unparalleled diversity of its ecosphere. 28 of the 86 mammals in Kidepo Valley National Park are endemic to the Karamoja region and cannot be seen in any other game park in Uganda.
The best times to set off for our game drives are two-fold; at 6 am when the opportunities to spot the nocturnal animals are abundant; and at 4 pm in the evening when the animals are retiring for the night. In the Narus Valley – the only oasis in the semi-arid park – a wildlife show is on full display as the animals gather to cool off from the glaring sun. Here you will be able to spot lions, buffalos, zebras, hartebeests, cheetahs, giraffes, waterbucks, leopards and a plethora of bird species. Four of the Big Five live here; the African buffalo, leopards, elephants, lions, all in perfect harmony.
Live the unforgettable experience of the long drive to Kanangorok Hot Springs that snakes through magnificent hilly and plain landscapes of Kidepo with the golden sun warming your back. Some of the roads cross through dry sandy beds of the Kidepo River which connect you to the expansive plains, to the Mount Morungole ranges that are endowed with ostriches and secretary birds – a true moment to relish.
